David Heikkinen

David Heikkinen is a proven energy investor, engineer, and capital markets strategist with over two decades of experience building value across upstream assets, carbon storage, and energy transition markets. As Chief Development Officer of WhiteHawk Energy, he leads corporate growth, origination, and strategic partnerships, focusing on differentiated access to high-quality energy and carbon storage opportunities.

Previously, David was the Founder and CEO of Heikkinen Energy Advisors, a top-tier independent research and investment advisory platform that served institutional investors during the U.S. shale revolution. Prior to founding HEA, he served as Head of E&P Equity Research at Tudor, Pickering, Holt & Co., and began his career as a production engineer and facilities engineer at Shell.

David brings a rare combination of technical acumen, financial expertise, and a deep network across operators, investors, and landowners. He is known for spotting market inflection points early — and building trust through cycles.

He holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Missouri S&T and an MBA from Tulane University. He is based in Houston and posts regularly on energy markets and investment themes at @heik_energy.
