Daniel Herz is the Founder, President and Chief Executive Officer of WhiteHawk. Mr. Herz previously served as Founder, President and Chief Executive Officer of Falcon Minerals Corporation (NASDAQ: FLMN) from August 2018 until June 2021, and served as a director from May 2020 until June 2021. Mr. Herz served as President of Atlas Energy Group, LLC (NYSE: ATLS) from April 2015 until October 2018. Mr. Herz served as Senior Vice President of Corporate Development and Strategy of the general partner of Atlas Energy, L.P. from February 2011 until its sale to Targa Resources, Inc. in February 2015. Mr. Herz was also Senior Vice President of Corporate Development of Atlas Pipeline Partners GP, LLC from August 2007 until its sale to Targa Resources, Inc. in February 2015. He was also Senior Vice President of Corporate Development of Atlas Energy, Inc. and Atlas Energy Resources, LLC from August 2007 until its sale to Chevron Corporation in February 2011. Before that, Mr. Herz was Vice President of Corporate Development of Atlas Energy, Inc. and Atlas Pipeline Partners GP, LLC from December 2004 until August 2007. Also, from September 2016 until October 2018, Mr. Herz served as Titan Energy, LLC’s Chief Executive Officer, where he continued to serve as a Class A Director through April 2021. Mr. Herz was Chief Executive Officer of Titan’s predecessor, Atlas Resource Partners, L.P., from August 2015 until August 2018. Before that, he had served as Senior Vice President of Corporate Development and Strategy of the general partner of Atlas Resource Partners, L.P. from March 2012 to April 2015.
Jeffrey Slotterback is the Chief Financial Officer of WhiteHawk. Mr. Slotterback also serves as founder and partner for PhiCap Advisors, LLC, a financial and capital advisory firm specializing in clean energy and energy transition capital raises. Previously, Mr. Slotterback served as the Principal Executive Officer and Chief Financial Officer for the Atlas companies, publicly traded energy enterprises including Atlas Energy Group and Atlas Resource Partners as well as several of its subsidiaries. Before becoming Chief Financial Officer, Mr. Slotterback served as Chief Accounting Officer and other senior accounting leadership positions since joining the team in 2007. At Atlas, Mr. Slotterback led the companies through all phases of the companies’ life cycles, from significant A&D driven growth, to entity-wide monetization mergers, culminating with in-court and out-of-court balance sheet restructurings and liquidations. Mr. Slotterback was also Senior Auditor with Deloitte & Touche, LLP prior to joining Atlas. He graduated from Muhlenberg College with a degree in Accounting.
Matthew Heinlein is the Vice President & Head of Corporate Development & Strategy at WhiteHawk Energy. Mr. Heinlein previously worked in private equity at The Blackstone Group from July 2019 to July 2021, where he was involved with several of Blackstone’s investments across the energy industry. Mr. Heinlein also worked at Falcon Minerals Corporation (NASDAQ: FLMN) from September 2018 to July 2019, where he focused on corporate development, financial analyses, and acquisition underwriting. He also worked in investment banking at Jefferies from July 2016 to September 2018, where he focused on mergers, acquisitions and financing advisory to oil and gas companies. Mr. Heinlein graduated from Duke University with a Bachelor of Science in Economics and a Certificate in Markets & Management Studies.
Michael Downs is the Chief Operating Officer of WhiteHawk. Mr. Downs also serves as a partner for PhiCap Advisors, LLC, a financial and capital advisory firm specializing in clean energy and energy transition capital raises. Previously, Mr. Downs served as Chief Operating Officer for Falcon Minerals Corporation (NASDAQ: FLMN). Prior to joining Falcon, Michael served as VP Operations at the Atlas companies, publicly traded energy enterprises including Atlas Energy Group and Atlas Resource Partners as well as several of its subsidiaries. Mr. Downs was an Audit Manager with Protiviti prior to joining Atlas. He graduated from Drexel University with a degree in Accounting.
Irene Deck is the Vice President of Land of WhiteHawk. Mrs. Deck oversees all aspects of Land and Land Administration including acquisitions, title, and contract negotiations. Prior to Whitehawk, Irene served as Vice President of Land for Falcon Minerals Corporation (NASDAQ: FLMN). Prior to joining Falcon, Irene served as Land Manager for Riverbend Exploration & Production Company where she managed a portfolio of non-operated working interests and mineral/royalty interests across multiple onshore basins.
David Heikkinen is the Chief Development Officer of WhiteHawk. Before joining WhiteHawk, Mr. Heikkinen served as the Executive Vice President of Commercial and Strategy at Carbonvert, a leading independent Carbon Capture and Storage project developer. Mr. Heikkinen founded and built his own energy research and advisory firm, Heikkinen Energy Advisors, which successfully merged with Pickering Energy Partners in 2021. Mr. Heikkinen is an industry veteran and thought leader with more than 30 years of experience and serves as an advisor to Carbonvert and Pickering Energy Partners. He holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Missouri Science & Technology and received his MBA from Tulane University while an engineer at Shell.
