John Picton

Vice President of Engineering

John Picton is Vice President of Engineering at WhiteHawk Energy. He leads technical efforts for M&A underwriting, reserves management, and the digital systems that enable WhiteHawk to scale. Mr. Picton joined WhiteHawk full-time in April 2025 after serving as a consultant to the company since 2023.

Previously, Mr. Picton founded a reservoir engineering consultancy specializing in M&A underwriting for minerals and midstream companies. Earlier, he served as a Vice President at Quantum Energy Partners, partnering with portfolio companies, underwriting initial acquisitions for the firm's structured capital fund, and driving digital transformation initiatives. Mr. Picton began his finance career in the Energy Investment Banking Group at Jefferies, where he advised on more than $10 billion of upstream transactions across multiple basins, and started his career as a reservoir and production engineer at Oxy, Linn Energy, and Citation.

Mr. Picton holds a B.S. in Petroleum Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin.
